Training Courses

Swift Water Vehicle Training - One Day Course

One Day Course Includes: (8 hours)

($125 per person-50 mile radius*

$200 per person beyond 50 mile radius*)

*Northern VA area

Classroom (morning portion)

  • Review of challenges associated with moving water vehicle rescues

  • ·Understanding properties of vehicle instability in moving water

Dry-land only practical exercises (afternoon portion)

  • Hands on practice of skills discussed in class

  • Gear set up and review

  • Utilize vehicle prop only on land ​

  • Securing vehicle applications

  • PFD applications for victims

 

Equipment:

PFD's and rescuer equipment (ropes, throw bags, etc.) will be provided onsite by PFD Warrior for use

If a group of 12 or more participants are from same agency or area, course can be taught at your location.

($325 per person- 50 mile radius*

$400 per person beyond 50 mile radius*)

*Northern VA area

Saturday 9am to Midnight & Sunday 9am to 6pm

Classroom

  • Review of challenges associated with moving water vehicle rescues

Dry-land practical exercises

  • Hands on practice of skills discussed in class

  • Utilize vehicle prop on land 

In-Water Vehicle Applications

  • Rescuing of victims in scenario-based training using vehicle prop

Night Time In-Water Operation (Held end of Day 1)

  • Operating and understanding low light and reduced visibility challenges

 

Preferred Prerequisites:

Swift Water Operations or Swift Water Technician Certification (NFPA 1670 compliant)

Awareness Level Certified will be shore-based only

Agency Provided Equipment:

  • Wet suit and/or dry suit

  • Water rescue helmet

  • Footwear - water rescue shoes preferred, but shoes that tie are acceptable, but no steel toe shoes

  • Gloves - water rescue gloves highly suggested, or gloves must be chemical-free, able to be worn in water environment

PFD Warrior Provided Equipment:

  • Water rescue rope, throw bags, and PFD's

 

If a group of 12 or more participants are from same agency or area, providing proper moving water conditions available, course can be taught at your location.

Rescue Swimmer Preparation Training

Three Hour Work Sessions Includes: (3 hours)

($50 per person)

Sessions by Appointment for Individual or Agency

Pool Swimming Session

  • Increasing overall swim proficiency

  • Focus on efficiency and familiarity with mask, fins, and snorkel usage

 

Prerequisites:

Must be able to swim unassisted a minimum of 25 meters without touching bottom of pool or using flotation device

Equipment Needed:

  • Rescue Swimmer PFD, mask, fins, and snorkel

  • If individual or agency does not have listed equipment, PFD Warrior can provide

Consecutive 24-Hour Operation Training Course

24-Hour Course Includes: (24 hours)

Consecutive 24-Hour Operational Period

($350 per person- 50 mile radius*

$425 per person beyond 50 mile radius*)

*Northern VA area

Saturday 9am through Sunday 9am

Deployment Simulation

  • Operational deployment simulating initial working period after a significant weather-related event has occurred

  • Rescuing of victims in scenario-based water rescue training using vehicle prop

  • Day and night time operation periods

  • Operating and understanding low light and reduced visibility challenges

  • Physical and mental limitations are tested due to little down/rest time

 

Preferred Prerequisites:

Swift Water Operations or Swift Water Technician Certification (NFPA 1670 compliant)

Awareness Level Certified will be shore-based only

Agency Provided Equipment:

  • Wet suit and/or dry suit

  • Water rescue helmet

  • Footwear - water rescue shoes preferred, but shoes that tie are acceptable, but no steel toe shoes

Rescue Swimmer - Two Day Course

Two Day Course Includes: (16 hours)

($250 per person- 50 mile radius*

$300 per person beyond 50 mile radius*)

*Northern VA area

Pool Swimming Session

  • Masks, fins, and snorkel usage

  • Demonstrate rescuer proficiency in water

  • Victim rescue techniques

Open Water Rescue Swimmer Training

  • Open water single and buddy swims

  • Swimming navigation and searches

  • Victim retrieval  

 

Prerequisites:

Must be able to complete 25 meter underwater swim followed immediately by 100 meter swim. 100 meter swim must be completed using the freestyle or American crawl stroke only. 

Equipment Needed:

  • Rescue Swimmer PFD, mask, fins, and snorkel

  • If individual or agency does not have listed equipment, PFD Warrior can provide on a limited basis
