Swift Water Vehicle Training - One Day Course

One Day Course Includes: (8 hours)

($150 per person)*

*Only offered within 50 miles of Northern VA area

Classroom (morning portion)

  • Review of challenges associated with moving water vehicle rescues

  • Understanding properties of vehicle instability in moving water

Dry-land only practical exercises (afternoon portion)

  • Hands on practice of skills discussed in class

  • Gear set up and review

  • Utilize vehicle prop only on land ​

  • Securing vehicle applications

  • PFD (Personal Flotation Device) applications for victims

Swift Water Vehicle Training - Two Day Course

Two Day Course Includes: (24 hours total)

$400 per person

Saturday, 9am to Midnight & Sunday, 9am to 6pm

Classroom

  • Review of challenges and tactics associated with moving water vehicle rescues

Dry-land practical exercises

  • Hands on practice of skills discussed in class

  • Review vehicle anatomy

In-Water Vehicle Applications

  • Applying rescue techniques while in moving water environment

  • Rescuing of victims in scenario-based training using vehicle prop

Night Time In-Water Operation (Held end of Day 1)

  • Operating and understanding low light and reduced visibility challenges

 

Preferred Prerequisites:

Swift Water Operations or Swift Water Technician Certification (NFPA 1670 compliant)

Awareness Level Certified will be shore-based only

Participant Required Equipment:

  • Type 5 Rescuer PFD (Personal Flotation Device)

  • Wet suit and/or dry suit

  • Water rescue helmet

  • Footwear - water rescue shoes preferred, but shoes that tie are acceptable, but no steel toe shoes

  • Gloves - water rescue gloves highly suggested, or gloves must be chemical-free, able to be worn in water environment

Rescue Swimmer - Three Day Course 

Three Day Course Includes: (24 hours total)

$300 per person

Pool Swimming Session

  • Masks, fins, and snorkel usage

  • Demonstrate rescuer proficiency in water

  • Victim rescue techniques

Open Water Rescue Swimmer Training

  • Open water single and buddy swims

  • Demonstrate rescuer competency and proficiency

  • Rescue techniques

  • Swimming navigation and searches

  • Victim retrieval  

 

Prerequisites:

Must be able to complete 25 meter underwater swim followed immediately by 100 meter swim. 100 meter swim must be completed using the freestyle or American crawl stroke only. A failed swim test will remove the participant from course.

Participant Required Equipment:

  • Rescue Swimmer PFD (Personal Flotation Device), mask, fins, and snorkel

  • If individual or agency does not have listed equipment, PFD Warrior can provide on a limited basis
